I suggest that you email. or go to where it says contact us at the bottom of your yahoo page site. then tell them or send them the email you have received. I have received lots of emails stating that I have won drastic amounts of money...some say yahoo on them and others have a specific business on it ...but they all tell me to send personal info too them to receive my funds.they also tell you to keep quiet about your winnings until you have received your funds...don't believe it ..they are scams. Identity theft and access to your personal bank info is what they are after...

Always go to the source that they say in their mail.....Yahoo will let you know if its a fraud.

This is nothing but a scam. Lookup Google for Euromilliones and you will get articles on how these guys send mass mailers to people telling them they have won a lottery. They will ask you to furnish all relevant details and then tell you that you need to pay an INSURANCE amount to release the payment. Once you have agreed to pay the Insurance amount they will swindle you and never communicate. This kind of Scam is also called The Nigerian Effect.

I accidentally selected Gmail as my default email program on Firefox (by clicking "yes" on the popup window). I want to switch back to Yahoo mail but, Fire fox would not let me. well there is a new thing that when you sign into yahoo..you can stay logged in for 2 weeks
It's a security measure so that no one else can see your information. You should want to be locked out after a period of inactivity
Download Mozilla Firefox, it will save your passwords so that all you will have to do is click signin because it will fill in your passwords for you. all you have to do is set a master password.
right under the yahoo mail home look for a box and it says sign in for 2 weeks

yahoo recently did an update to their messenger and its caused the messenger to sign out and in constantly, among other irritating things. you may want to do as i did to fix it. uninstall that version of yahoo messenger and re-install the original.(you wont loose any of your settings).

go to start, control panel, add/remove. then scroll down the list until you see yahoo messenger, highlight it, move to the right and remove it.

then go to the internet and download yahoo messenger 7.0 (or 7.1).

reboot your computer and try your messenger again. that should stop it from logging out, it did for me. hope this helps, good luck

I have no USB cable for my camcorder so I copied my video to a DVD and was going to save the DVD to my computer so I could e-mail it. I tried saving the DVD many ways to the computer but it won't save or copy, it just automatically plays the video. I tried attaching the DVD to the e-mail but only .usr files were available to attach. Is there any way to send it or should I just get a USB cable? And if I get a USB cable do I need to get software too (none came with cam) with Windows XP?

Okay, there are just so many issues here I don't even know where to begin.

First you need to know how these things work before I try to explain to you why this is impossible.

A DVD has a capacity of about 4.7 billion bytes.

Emails providers (like yahoo, hotmail, or any other ones) usually let you attach a maximum of 10 million bytes worth of stuff. Which means that you would need to split the video in 470 parts, send 470 mails, and then the other person needs to recieve all of those, download all 470 attachments, and then stitch the movie back together.

Let us assume that you are willing to do that or let us even assume that there is a way to email 4.7 billion bytes worth of data. Do you have any idea how long it will take for you to first upload the movie, and then for the other person to download the movie? I seriously hope you have like a T1 connection because something like even DSL/Cable will be too slow. If you were to use your DSL connection (at maximum capacity which you never get) it would take you about a week to upload the movie and then the same time for the other person to download the movie. Here a week means seven days AND NIGHTS, continuously. Your computer needs to be on and you cannot use the internet to do ANYTHING else.

Now the next question you should ask is, "well, can I just make the movie smaller?" and the answer is yes you can make it smaller...but NOT SMALL ENOUGH. You can reduce the uploading and downloading time to about 2 days but it will still be to big to email.

If you forcibly make the movie so small so that you can email, you will degrade the quality of the movie sooooooo much that the naked human eye won't even be able to see it. I don't think you can even do that even if you wanted to. The screen size of the video will be ridiculously small and such horrible quality.

Just to let you know, it wouldn't have made any difference if you would have transfered the movie using USB (or rather I think you mean firewire). It still would have been the same size. Actually it would have been ever bigger.

You actually chose the better of the two options because this is a lot easier than trying to record it onto your computer, edit it, and then encode it in DVD format. The best way to get video into your computer is to record it as a DVD unless you want to do some really fancy stuff with it (like matrix style special effects) because for that you better have top of the line hardware (uncompressed take up a looooooooot of space nad processing power) and you better have state of the art software (no windows movie maker won't do the job).

Just for your information, in case you need to "save" a DVD on your computer (for some only God only knows what reason, unless you are blackbeard pirate and running away from the MPAA for releasing illegal copies on the internet), you cannot simply copy and paste it. The same is true for audio CDs as well. The songs cannot be simply copied and pasted.

The technology industry has a very advanced and sophisticated words for that called "ripping". You say you want to rip a CD or you want to rip a DVD onto your computer.

And for that, there is software available. Some are free. Some cost money. Some cost a lot of money depending what it is you are ripping and what do you want to ultimately do with it. I don't think you need to concern yourself with that...so DON'T WASTE ANY MONEY ON ANY SOFTWARE.

And don't get a USB (rather firewire) cable either.

My advice...just mail the DVD!!!

Compressing the movie will not work (as I said above). It will still be too big. Email is usually limited to aboutu 10MB and things like yahoo messenger are limited to about 100MB and remember even if you could, you are STILL limited by your own internet service provider's uploading and downloading speed. Even on DSL/cable it will take you days to send that stuff.

Compressing the movie using DivX or something is still too big.

The only time you can do this is when it is a little clip less than 10 minutes at questionable quality perhaps.

Well, if its in DVD format. Download a program like DVDx (I think its free) and convert the dvd into a normal video file for your computer (this will make the file way smaller sending the files off a dvd that will be HUGE, thousands of megabytes instead of maybe a hundred megabytes). Then e-mail the video.
There is no way u can transfer by mail that quantity of data!A movie is a verry big file to mail`it.Maybe u can try to send the video by a messenger software,but it takes o lot of time.

When you insert the DVD in the drive of your pc, go to Start%26gt;My Computer, right-click on your DVD-Rom drive, select Explore. A window will open showing you all the files on the DVD. These will most likely be VOB files and extremely large - too large to email; you will need to convert VOB files to a format like DivX, in effect compressing them.

Where are your e-mails? Are they on Outlook or where? If they are on a web-bsaed e-mail provider such as Yahoo! Mail or MSN Mail or Gmail, they will not get erased.

But if you are using Outlook or other computer based program yes they willl get erased. Try to forward them to a web based account :)

You can back them up on cd or dvd disk, or floppy disk and save them indefinitely. XP features a compatibility mode that goes all the way back to Windows 95. XP just doesn't crash as much, and doesn't use files that are shared by more than one program(it copies and separates them).

You don't specify the operating system the spool files are on so I will assume for now it is Windows.

The fastest way to delete the spool files is from the DOS command prompt. You will need to know the directory(s) where the spool files are located, and what the "filename spec" is.

For this example, let's assume the directory is "C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS" and the spool file names ALL end with ".spl" (I made this up, you need to verify it).

So you would do the following:

%26gt; Start / Run / CMD # to open DOS window

%26gt; cd "C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS" # change to the directory where the spool files are located

%26gt; dir *.spl /p # verify that these are the files you are interested in ... one screen at a time

%26gt; del *.spl # delete all the ".spl" files (or whatever the extension is)

Couple of caveats and things to consider:

- you need to verify what the spool file names are, and whether you want to delete all of them or not. If you want to delete only SOME of them, do not use the procedure above, which uses a wildcard (i.e. "*" ) and will delete all the spool files.

- you need to verify the directory, though it sounds like you already know that from your question

Finally, it will still take a while to delete all the files, but it will be faster than doing it from the Windows Explorer interface, that I can gaurantee. What I would suggest is that you delete the files in groups based on the filename, which reduces the "tax" on the operating system, and ensures that if you make a mistake, you don't make it on everything at one shot.

For example, spool files probably have some sequential naming scheme, so you could do something like:

%26gt; del xrba*.spl

%26gt; del xrbb*.spl

et cetera. You'll have to look at the file names to see if you can do that.

I have never deleted 78 GB worth of files at one shot so I don't know exactly how long it will take. To estimate I will assume each spool file is on average 100K. 78GB = 81788928 Kilobytes. That would mean 817,889 files. Assume 1000 files deleted per second (one per millisecond) would require 817 seconds, or 14 minutes.

In practice it might take quite a bit longer, so expect to wait 15 to 60 minutes for the deletions to complete.

now the 78 gb, thats a lot, so it will probably take a lot of time. if thats on another HD, try foramttting it if there is no other data needed on that harddrive. that would be the easiest way.

If your OS is XP Home, you cannot turn on IIS. But if your OS is XP Professional or XP Media Center, you can.

You have not said which XP is it. I am assuming that it is XP home from your problem description.

Microsost does not want XP Home users to be able to use IIS. That said, there are obscurely documented ways of actually making system level changes to turn IIS on Home - but those are risky and should be performed only if you are supremely confident of what you are doing. Google using "turn on IIS on XP Home" and you will come across a few such articles.

I cannot receive e-mail from a friend, because I made a mistake and clicked on spam, instead of clicking on delete. I need to hear from this person, due to health reasons. I have gone to many resouces, and they do not have an answer for this problem. The senders e-mail is blocked due to my mistake. When I received the e-mail in question, there was an attachment. A window poped up with the message saying, this attachment cannot to seen,due to it's contents. You should have spam sent to a different mailbox (like one labelled SPAM, not deleted.

If somethiing ends up in there by accident, you can mark it as not spam and read it. This should also remove the filter against it.

Thunderbird emal is good at things like that.

If it's yahoo mail, check in the Blocked email section. You should see a list that shows all the emails you have ignored. Just remove that email from the list.
Please add what mail program and site you are using and we might be able to help.. Different for each one.
There's usually a special folder the emails are sent to where the person can retrrieve them from.
find it in junk mail box folder. or trash can folder. select the message from there by checking on the check box provided and then selecting inbox from move to drop down menu.

For some reason, every now and then, Yahoo buries a new message beneath a few pages of old ones. I think there's a way to show unread messages only. Or you can scan all your pages until you find it. It's there! I'll bet on it.

Your best bet would be to create MPEGs.That gives you ONE file to transfer and is almost universally playable.

Not sure where you are getting plane text from but plain text is just a text format that is generally supported by most applications. The email addresses look to be default values for some edit fields on the web page. You could put anything in the VALUE tag that you want to be displayed. They are marked as hidden though and have probably been supplied from another page.

the next time you sign in, there will be 3 options underneath the email and password area, theres one which says

"always ask for my password"

make sure its highlighted every time you sign in, and whoever goes there next wont be able to access your account without a password!

It's been a few days now that I can't access my mail. After I sign in at www.mail.yahoo.com and it starts opening my mailbox, a pop-up window comes up and it sasys the following:

Yahoo has been having major server issues since at LEAST Jan. 10, seemingly just with particular servers. And what's happening to you is unfortunately one of the many problems that people are having because of them, and Yahoo doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry to solve them. And the problems are not just w/Yahoo Beta or IE7; I and others not using either are having similar problems. But both do have more problems; if you're using Beta, it's still in the testing stage and has a lot of problems, so go back to original Yahoo mail, and the same w/IE7, go back to IE6 until MS irons out all the problems.

I've had to use another acct.provided free by my ISP to send/rcv important e-mails since Jan. 10, and it's been working just fine the whole time. If you don't have another acct.w/another provider besides Yahoo, I'd strongly advise to get one; it makes a good backup in case of problems like this.

Please see my posting from Fri. Jan. 12 under the heading "Anyone having problems of any kind w/Yahoo Mail, PLEASE READ THIS" for more info and on reporting problems to Yahoo.

Since that original posting, they've also sent another e-mail that they've escalated the problem (or should I say problems!) to their engineering department, which is an indication of major problems, and not just a minor S/W "glitch." And again, these problems are not exclusive to Yahoo's Beta, but it does seem to compound the existing problems. This would indicate to me that there are also compatibility issues btwn. the H/W and S/W, besides the server problems.

So it's not anything you're doing, your computer, or your internet connection, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And BTW, deleting temp files (which your computer automatically does anyway every time you shut down your computer), cookies, or history will absolutely NOT fix the problem, nor will running disk cleanup or defrag.

Yahoo has been having lots of problems with its servers lately, which is why many people are having trouble logging in. Keep trying, particularly at times of day when you think internet traffic might be lower. Hopefully, Yahoo will get its act together and fix the many problems... soon.

I have Windows 98 and I use Firefox as my browser. In the past few weeks, every time I select all of my bulk mail and click delete, a gray box pops up asking me if I really want to delete it. Before I reformatted the pc, I went to my Yahoo account and checked my files and they opened fine. After I reformatted the pc, I went back to my account and tried to open my files and it won't open. You need to reinstall the software that the files were created with for windows to be able to open the files. For example if they have xls extensions then you need excel or a program that can read excel files.

open up the folder....then get the objects back to the pc
After you create a folder, you can personalize it. Right click the folder %26gt; Properties. At the near bottom of the page you should see:

Attributes: Read Only Advanced

Hidden

You should probably uncheck read only, or set your setting for that folder to defalt.
Try downloading the files to your computer. Afterwards, open them to see if they work.

If they don't, make sure you are using an administrator account.

You may also try the procedure you used to open them earlier.

Just to check if the problem is with the pc or the files, try downloading the files to another pc and see if that works.

When you do a reformat, it only re-installs Windows, not any type of software or download you may have done later.

You will need to re-install any software (Office, Anti-virus programs) and drivers that you need for your system. Once you re-install the software for your files, you will be able to access them.

I'm having the same trouble too, and I've done everything the error message said to do. I've come to the conclusion that it's not us, it's Yahoo, and I want my Beta back NOW!! When I get an e-mail from Yahoo Answers informing me that I have a new answer to a question that I've asked I:

1. Open the e-mail

2. click on the link of my question.

3. a new window is opened that takes me to the answer(s)

4. I read the answers, etc. then close the window

5. now I am back at the e-mail message and my computer has frozen.

6. I press ctrl+alt+del and get the window that let's the user know what applications, programs and system stuff(?) is running on the cuputer.

At this point, I will usually see highlighted something like; Yahoo Mail(not responding).

7. I click on end task and another message box opens asking to either end task or cancel.

No matter what the response is to this message box, the computer stays frozen and I have to press ctrl+alt+del to reboot or sometimes I have to shut down the computer and turn it on again.

Why and is there anything that I can do to prevent this from happeining in the future?

This works on my dinosaur, don't close the Answer's window, just click back 2 ur email on the start bar, get all of the rest of the stuff u gotta get done done, then click back on answers, close window, and don't worry if your computer freezes, it doen't matter, your done, turn it off. get a feeling of pride for one besting your computer

I don't care to look at "celulite boodies" or other glittering advertisements everytime I go to my mailbox. Sometimes the pop-up ads interfere with my mailbox info showing up on screen and I have to backtrack and try again.

Is it possible to uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and revert back to Windows Media Player 10?

If I am sent e-mails that need to be seen through Media Player, I am not able to see them. This has only been happening since I accepted an update for Media Player 11.

cant unless you know some one that has 10 and download it into a disc and update unto your computer
Go to Control Panel.

Select Add/remove programs

Select Windows Media Player

remove it

Restart.

This will remove th latest updated version and bring back the old one.
You could try and run the uninstall and see if that works. I recently restored my OS and it had 10 on there. That is the only way I could get it to work. 11 sucks and I hate it. So now I am back to 10 and ignore every update. 11 puts so many limits that 10 did not. Hopefully you wont have to restore your OS, but that might be the easiest way.
Just go to the control panel and uninstall media player 11 and then restart your computer. It will automatically go back to the previous version.
go into the tools section of media player 11 and choose options..a page will appear with about 8 tabs on it. choose the file tab and make sure all boxes are marked.

it is probably that one of the file types that the e-mails are sent in isn't checked.thus you can't read them.

Ok, got your message from your other question. You do still need to go through your email settings.

You also need to go through your account settings. At the top of this page it says My Account (next to Sign Out). Click on that, and yes you will have to put in your password again. Go through everything in there, make some adjustments if needed and don't forget to save everything.

Do Not Answer any Pop-Up Window, even if it says Yahoo. This is a Spam trick. Do you have the Yahoo Pop Up Blocker with the Anti-Spyware? If not, you should get that downloaded also. It's free and it comes with the Yahoo Toolbar. After you got that downloaded, make sure you Enable your Pop Up Blocker. That should put an end to your Pop Up Window problem.

I noticed lately that several e-mail clients are doing this even if the addressee already has you listed in their address book. You should only have to do it one time for each of your contacts. Although annoying, its a good idea from a security point of view. Also, I believe its the addressees' e-mail service who asks that you do this and not the senders' service so it ain't Yahoo's fault..

My dog loves eating paper. When we are out he'll climb onto window ledges and tables to eat paper. When the mail man comes he barks until we let him tothe front door. We have a metal mail guard which he'll bite and scratch even if we leave him for up to half an hour. I'm scared he'll hurt himself. He's usually the most docile and gentle of dog but when the mail comes through the door he'll start to growl and bark agressivly and has even tried to bite when I get between him and the mail.

Has anybody else had a similar experience? I really don't know how to help the situation!

We have a mail slot where the mail comes in the house, and I had to train him not to go near the mail. He now stands on the carpet and barks at the mail, though.

The only thing we've found that helps a little, is if we catch him chewing on paper, we take it away, scold him and go put the paper up, then come back with a bone (one that he already has, not a new one) and put it in his mouth and pat him and say "good boy". We've been doing that for the past 2 months (since we got him) and slowly Im staring to see that when he goes for paper I will say his name in a warning tone and he will stop then go pick up a bone and chew on it.

He still chews on paper when we arent home, but the redircetion seems to be helping, even if it is slowly.

With the mail, you need to claim the mail box as yours, not his. When you go to get the mail, dont open it right away. get between your dog and the box and stand with your head up, and if he jumps on you or tries to move towards the box, step towards him and say firmly "No."

Once he calms down, make him sit and stay while you get the mail, and correct him if he moves or barks.

When you first start it, it might take him a while to get the message, but eventually he should automatically sit and wait patiently for you to get the mail without any fuss.

Good luck with it. I hope you get him out of the habit.
Sorry my dogs were never too crazy about papers... tell me something what kind of toys do you have for your dog? Do you have chew toys and dog chews like nylabone, rawhide etc for him. And how old is your dog?

Puppies thing flying paper is fun and will shed them for anxiety relief.

Take your dog for daily long walks...trade his paper for a dog chew or a rawhide (be careful to monitor chewing because some dogs will swollow the last bit of the rawhide without chewing that can be a choking hazard)

Give him a treat for not rushing to the mailbox to "read" your mail. He also need training. That is helpful with behavioral problems like paper eating

I can log into chat, and into my yahoo home page. I can see that i have messages in the little box. I never upgraded. I have always used yahoo classic. I have seen this question asked by several people. Some of the responses were just silly and rude. This is a serious issue. I have tried to contact yahoo and they aren't very helpful. When I click the mail button, I get a pop up that says

On 1/1/07, my Yahoo Mailbox suddenly turned into something that I might describe as "plain text." The mail is all there, but in a very plain, text-y format, and various functions, like "Search Mail" are missing. The appearance of the "Compose" window is very "scaled down" as well.

I am not experiencing a problem with any other area of Yahoo, or anywhere else on the Net. Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone know what is wrong, and/or how to fix it?

I am sorry that you are so depressed. The best thing you can do is keep yourself busy, try to learn something new--even at your age. Try taking a drawing class so you can get to know new people. Learn to speak a new language or work on crossword puzzles. Do some crocheting or reading a great book. Watch an old movie with Cary Grant or Gary Cooper or listen to some oldies but goodies music. There is more to do in this life than to work, get depressed, and look out a window.

It sounds to me like you have a lot to offer but you are experiencing some depression. Please talk to your physician about this. Depression can have physical causes, and it is treatable. I've had very similar feelings to those you express at a much younger age, and life looks and feels very bleak when you feel like that. Depression can also affect how you feel physically.

You can try uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. If there are any settings in forefox you are concerned about losing then save them before uninstalling Forefox. Bookmarks for instance.

I tested the same thing with Internet Explorer. In that case I had to tell Internet Explorer to go to it's factory settings, because I had previously told it to stop making itself my default browser. Tools...Internet Options...Programs...Make default.

I assume, you have Yahoo Mail, but I don't know which version you are using. I'm using the newest version (my wife likes the old version) and I have mine set up to receive my mail in HTML format and I have no problem receiving pictures from friends and family.

I think, my wife has to download the pictures before she can view them, while they show up right in the body of my email and I can download them too if I want to.

I've already used Yahoo! mail beta for months, since yesterday I can't read any of the e-mails in my inbox. Moreover, I can't send any e-mails. don't know, i was having trouble with my yahoo email earlier when i tried to delete an email it didn't delete but showed up as the next email, like i had clicked for it to show next email, but it was the same email kept showing up, and the same thing was happening here in yahoo answers just before that when i was scrolling through the questions, i clicked for the next page of questions, but the same first page kept showing up.

It looks like you have inadvertantly had Yahoomail entered into MS' security control system as a protected site. You must specify that you want it to have free access.
If you are trying to get to your Yahoo Beta Mail with any browser and getting a "Page Not Displayed" or similar message or errors, unfortunately there is not a simple solution.

A month ago or so I was experiencing similar problems. I tried every answer people had posted and nothing worked. I had cleared the cache and history, booted into SafeMode with networking to clear all temp files and still couldn't fix the problem.

Because Yahoo Mail Beta is beta software (almost but not quite ready for prime time) they help very little with it. Beta software is basically in testing mode. I'm sure Yahoo is using Answers to guage how well the software is working. Many people post their issues here so they get a good bug report of the software. But, since it is Beta, they have no solutions. They will simply try to fix these bugs when Beta goes into production for everyone.

With all of that said, last month I finally had a chance to switch back to the original version and all is fine now. You cannot change back to the original w/o accessing beta first. I had to do it late at night when Beta was fully working for me at home to find the link to switch back. The link is there close to your user name AFTER you successfully login to your Beta account.

My problem is it keeps freezing and has errors that need to refresh or switch back to classic mail. I switched back to classic mail before, now it cant even do nothin. I have been having the same problem since last week - when I click on an email listed in my Inbox, when the next page loads, the header and side menu load, but the message content does not, and when I try to click buttons such as "reply" they don't actually do anything, I just stay on the same page. 1. which scripting you use to send the form to email (PHP/ASP and so on)

2. Where your html form page is hosted and which platform ( windows/unix)
it sounds to me like you are having the user send you an email message but what you really want is to submit the info they filled in to your server (via POST) and then have YOUR server send you the email. If you have the user send the email with their account then it will tell them and try to open their default mail application in this case outlook. so make your form a submit form using post as the method. I assume you currently have something like

When I try to click on a web-site link from an e-mail (in outlook express), I get a pop-up window showing my sign-in id and pw (my internet provider is rogers)- and then a message that the "attempt to sign-in has failed". Yet I already have a connection (I'm in e-mail account). If I copy and paste the link it works.

Now I'm getting the message that I'm not connected when I'm attempting to upload pictures to Google Picasa.

It seems that I have a setting that is not set properly somewhere but I don't know where. Can anyone help?

your computer should let you double click it. If not your mouse can be not connected all the way or broken. If that is not the case then go into your control panel and (you have to right click it) click the printers and other hardware. It should ahve a mouse on the picture. Then you can change your mouse and its settings from there.

OK, I want to set up my email for the new Mail on the iPod Touch. When I go to sign up, I click "other." Then I don't know if I choose IMAP, POP, or Exchange. (I use http://mail.midco.net)

I also don't know what to put in "Host Name" under the Incoming Mail Server, or what to put in "Host Name" under the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).

You'll need to contact Midcontinent Communications to provide you the correct email servers settings for your iPod Touch. They might just give you the settings, but won't assist you with setting it up on your iPod.

Anyway, most email servers uses POP for incoming mail (POP means post office protocol). You can get your POP3 server name from Midcontinent.

SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol) server name is the name to identify your outgoing mail's server. Get that from Midcontinent too!

SSL means secure socket layer. Most email providers don't use SSL, but some (like AT%26amp;T) are now using SSL connection to their email servers. I suggest that you get these information from Midcontinent, which is your email provider.

Note: Most incoming mail servers that doesn't use SSL connection uses port 110.

Most outgoing mail servers that doesn't use SSL connection uses port 25.

Most incoming mail servers that use SSL connection uses port 995.

Most outgoing mail servers that doesn't use SSL connection uses port 465.

So the best way to deal with this is contact your email provider, which is Midcontinent!

Yahoo Messenger is indeed being "rolled-out" as part of their beta mail program. It is gradually appearing in people's mal accounts -- just not all at once. It showed up in my wife's mail on Thursday, but I am still waiting. Be patient, and soon we will all have it! :)

I built a new computer with Windows Vista Ultimate, and am pretty satisfied with the performance and all.

However, I am facing a problem on using Windows Live Messenger.

When it is ready to bring out that number of e-mails that I received to Hotmail account by popping out that usual blue square, the messenger stops working immediately and generates "Windows live Messenger has stopped working" messege, and quits.

I tried several different versions of it but it does the same thing at the exact same moment. I have seen some other people asking the question, but got no answer.

Anyone who have face the problem but fixed it?

Last I heard there was no fix for that; You had to drop back in your Outlook Version.

The official word is "there is no fix for this". Actually there is, but it's pretty much rocket science as far as system engineering goes. It took me 6 hours of research and 2 hours to apply the fix... roughly 60 pages of documentation, dude. Virtual directories, registry fixes, security parameter changes... Way more than can be listed here.

Go back to 2003 until Microsoft rolls out a patch.

SWITCH BACK = To go back to the old Yahoo! Mail, under where it says "Welcome, yourname" at the top of your Yahoo! Mail page, there's a "Switch Back" link. Click "Switch Back" to go back to the old Yahoo! Mail. You will need to make sure that you have pop-ups activated at that time, or you cannot see the switch back box that will come up. The pop-up box will say, "you are about to switch to the original yahoo mail, but before you do, we'd love your feedback" Click on switch to original yahoo mail. You will see your old email back now.
switch back is the option all right.. but why dont you try the new beta.. its jst so cool.. probable reason its not working on ur computer is cause of the resolution issue..

change the screen resolution to 1024/768 pixels. and it wil be ok...

Hi, I've configured Firefox as the default web browser in my new Vista Ultimate system. However, when I try to access Yahoo! mail from Yahoo! messenger or opens links from chat window they still open up in IE. I am unable to find any straight forward solution to this. I've checked the default settings in start menu and it shows Firefox as the default web programme.

Anyone has a clue as to what might be causing this? My Laptop is just a day old so I haven't used it extensively yet to know if this error occurs across other locations.

Vista default web browser set as Firefox. But my Yahoo mail still opens up in IE when going via mssgr.?microsoft access internet explorer

ive got a similar problem running xp got firefox but emails on msn messenger open with ie and after literally having the problem for years ive come to the conclusion that you can not change it sorry:(
Unfortunately as MSN Messenger is Microsoft's program, they want you to use their web browser, and so ignore the defaults. I don't know of any way around it directly, but you could try something like Tillian [1] or Pidgin [2] which allows you to log into MSN Messenger and other Instant Messaging accounts, all through one program, and will use your default browser.

Try uninstalling MS Word go to control panel go to add remove programs then uninstall then reinstall MS Word then go back to your attachment and see if that resolves your issue if it still didn't resolve your issue do a scan-disk on your C: harddrive highlight my computer the R-click with your mouse go to properties go to tools select scan-disk if you have XP it will prompt your to restart you PC in order for it to take effect

It takes a long time to delete old mail, navigate to new area, and to open a new window. My computer is as slow as an old 386, and I am on cable service. which should be fast.

I have Yahoo DSL (the 24.95) and my mail deletes instantly. Once in awhile the servers may be really busy, then I experience a little slowness when I go to another page, but not very often. Maybe you need to clean the cache, defrag your computer or do a disk cleanup. I found this really helps me to keep things running smoothly. Hope this helps you, also. Good luck.

Have you emptied or deleted any excess mail?

Check your mail holding capacity, it may be full.

Sometimes I have one IE window on yahoo answers for e.g, then another window open for my email. I may be writing an email and once the yahoo answers page loads it just changes the active window to yahoo answers in the middle of me typing my mail. There is no problem as such, onmly that is very annoying. What canI do to stop this from happening?

There are a couple of things.

Get SpyBot Search %26amp; Destroy from Download.com and give your computer a clean sweep. Then get Ad-aware from Download.com.

Then get FireFox.com from Mozilla.com. This is a replacement browser that is more resistant to popups. But some websites will only work with Internet Explorer, so you aren't done with that yet.

I use FireFox for all basic browsing, and when I access Yahoo Answers. If I ever get a popup, I immedately close all windows and run both Ad-aware and SpyBot. This very rarely happens to me, but might when I am doing a google search and hit a BOGUS website.

Use Zone Alarm Suite. It's working so fine for me... It has anti-virus, firewall ,a program for eliminating spyware and all the things your computer needs to be OK.
